Chairman's Message
It's the start of a new year and we're all excited about what 2006 has in store for Music For Good.
Our volunteers are conducting weekly beginners' keyboard classes at the Handicaps Welfare Association from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Our monthly KK Hospital ward tours are now being conducted every fortnight from January-March 2006. We'll also be running our Kraftwerks program for the youths at CHEC starting in February. We will be expanding our Music Mentoring program in 2006, and our hip-hop workshops and programs, which we collaborate with Beats-Society, are also going into full swing in the coming months.
We are working with The Necessary Stage on a charity CD project called Migrant Voices, which features Thai, Indonesian, Indian and Filipino migrant workers in Singapore. The CD will be launched at the Esplanade outdoor theatre on March 3-5 with performances by local bands and the featured migrant workers. We have also been asked to help organize this year's President's Challenge launch event - something we've been proud to be associated with since 2004.
We recently re-organised the organisational structure and became a Public Company Limited By Guarantee. We've set up a strict code of governance and financial controls (by engaging an experienced financial consultant), a Board of Trustees, an experienced panel of advisors and a small dedicated staff team to run the daily operations of Music For Good. Our audited financials will be made available on our website as we aim to be transparent in everything we do and are aware of our responsibilities to our donors, volunteers and supporters.
I would like to thank the hardworking staff, our inspiring volunteers, all the wonderful bands who have played at our events, our sponsors Samuel Seow Law Corporation, Gavin Anderson & Company, our supporters National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, Rosemary Chng & Associates, Music Clef, Ranking Music & Sports, and our hip hop outreach partner Beats-Society for their invaluable contribution.
It's going to be another busy and exciting year for everyone
connected with Music For Good. We are all looking forward
to the exciting challenges ahead.
