Patrick Chng, Chairman
• Frontman, The Oddfellows
• Lead Guitarist, TypeWriter
• Founder, Music For Good Ltd

Patrick is currently the Senior Editor of MTVAsia.com website. He started freelance writing in the late 1980s, writing music articles, interviews and reviews for BigO, Teenage and M3 magazines among others. He worked for the Singapore International Film Festival from 1991-1994 and joined MTV Asia in January 1995 as a Production Assistant before becoming an Associate Producer at end of 1996. Patrick produced shows such as MTV Alternative Nation, MTV Superock, MTV Classic, co-produced MTV Live And Loud and MTV Screen among others. In July 1999, he joined E!Online Asia as a journalist before joining MTVAsia.com as the editor in early 2001.

Patrick started learning classical piano when he was 8 years old. He picked up the guitar on his own when he was 11 and started playing in bands when he was 17. Patrick formed his first band performing original material when he was 19. In 1988, after his first band split up, he formed The Oddfellows, who released their debut album in 1991 and had a No. 1 hit on Perfect 10 98.7FM and Radio Heart (91.3FM) radio stations. In the next few years, The Oddfellows had other Top 10 hits on radio like "Your Smiling Face", "She's So Innocent", "Unity Song" and "Breach" and contributed songs to the movie soundtracks of "Mee Pok Man" and "12 Storeys". Patrick also organized gigs, played for The Padres in the early 1990s and produced the CD compilation series called "New School Rock", which featured local bands. He has also played drums, bass and guitar as a session musician for bands like Popland, The Ordinary People, The Sugarflies, All Countries among others. While The Oddfellows are currently in hiatus, Patrick is playing guitar for Typewriter and occasionally performs as a solo acoustic act.

Why MFG?

" Over the years, I've become interested in social work. The Oddfellows have played many charity gigs and in 2000, we released a CD and donated all proceeds to two non-profit organisations - Sok Sabay (Cambodia) and Boys Town (Singapore). I feel that musicians in Singapore can do a lot more to give something back to society. Music For Good was formed to channel the talents of music makers and fans to positive use. "

Randy Loh, Programme/Operations Manager

Randy signed on with the Air Force in 1997 as an officer. Through his secondary appointment as a manpower planning officer and operations executive, he learnt the importance of communications as a positive influencer and a powerful tool. Frequent interactions with his peers and colleagues helped honed skills necessary in the administrative line. During his time with the Armed Forces, Randy formulated and recommended operational guidelines and procedures, manpower allocation guidelines and was involved as a project manager in an IT project to revolutionalise manpower allocation.

Randy's passion remains in helping the less fortunate. Beyond his military duties, he would collect donations for charities and initiate mini charity movements to encourage his peers to play a part in volunteering. Randy left his fulltime job in end 2003 to pursue another passion, backpacking. He ventured the streets of North India and trekked the mountains in Tibet. Fresh from his backpacking trips, Randy was invited to join Music For Good as one of its executive members in April 2004, and has been with MFG since.

Fascinated by music since young, Randy was finally able to pursue his interest in 2004, when he picked up classical Indian flute. The melodious tunes produced by flute draws him to this instrument. He is also attracted to its portability as well, bringing his flute along during his travels.

Why MFG?
" I've always believe in giving back to the society. Within my social clique, I've engaged in small projects, collecting donations and initiating mini charity movements. Music is a good medium to reach out to the masses. I hope that through MFG we can help more people live a better day ."

Alicia Chua, Funding & Sponsorship Director

"Music is as essential as air to life...and is able to change a person's life, and in turn that person would have the ability to change the face of music. To be able to facilitate that is a truly worthy cause."

Nick Chan, Music Outreach Executive

• Co-founder of Wallwork Records

Nick co-founded and runs Wallwork Records, a local independent music label that develops and promotes aspiring local musicians by providing an avenue for the performance and release of their works. He has organised various concerts, including The Tesseract Gig and The RNDM Gig, which showcased local bands as well as electronic and multimedia artists. The RNDM gig developed into a monthly event that was held at Home Club, and each show featured at least 4 bands and one DJ collective.

Nick signed as a songwriter/artist to Music & Movement, a Singapore talent label with the likes of Dick Lee, Sandy Lam and Shiekh Haikel under their management. In 2003, he was signed to UK electronic music label Logical Noise Records to release tracks for the label's international compilation release. While handling music production and mastering for various bands including Astreal, MUON, bigred.moment and HighRise, Nick also provided original tracks for the Singapore Short Story showcase on TV-Channel Arts Central in November 2004. Tracks were used for 2 short stories as well as the programme trailer and credits.

Why MFG?
" I've always loved music, from making it to sharing and raving about it. Music For Good gives me the opportunity to retain that sense of excitement while helping others, and it helps me see the bigger picture and keep things in check. I believe music is one of the best ways to reach out to people, as everyone can relate to it or derive something for themselves from it. "
