Totally Booked
October 15, 2005 @ Woodlands Regional
Library
3pm Free Admission
Totally Booked is the only gathering in Singapore to introduce
hip-hop and rap music on a friendlier level, in a library
setup; an interactive and intimate atmosphere. Merging art,
music, and social awareness, the tongue-in-cheek program title
seeks to promote the message; the importance of knowledge.
What better way to gain than through reading! Part showcase,
part chat-show, this event brings together leaders in the
rap circuit and their budding novices to discuss issues not
usually convenient to speak about in the clubs.
Come watch Chaz Ali, Oracle Phlow, B-Cube, VelvetGroove,
Lyrical Deity and Fizz-Eye perform and participate in the
workshop! Organised by Beats-Society in partnership with Music
For Good and the National Library Board.

Power Pop
September 9-11, 2005 @ Esplanade
Outdoor Stage
According to Wikipedia, the encyclopedia, Power Pop is a
long-standing musical genre that draws its inspiration from
1960s British and American pop music. Musically the style
is characterized by strong melodies, crisp vocal harmonies,
economical arrangements and prominent guitar riffs, with instrumental
solos kept to a minimum. Bands like Big Star, The Knack, Weezer,
Teenage Fanclub, The Posies and Fountains Of Wayne have kept
Power Pop very much alive over the decades. Catch some of
Singapore and Malaysia's hottest power pop acts this weekend.
